Who Are the OEQA Commissioners?

The OEQA Commission is composed of members appointed by the Governor and legislative leaders. These individuals are responsible for setting the standards by which Oklahoma schools are held accountable.

The Parent Member Commissioner

Perhaps the most critical role for families is the Parent Member Commissioner. This position is statutorily designated for a parent who has children currently in the public school system.

Their explicit duty is to represent the voice of families — ensuring that accountability measures reflect what parents value, not just what system administrators prefer.

Why This Matters

Creating a direct line from your kitchen table to the state capitol ensures that policy decisions are grounded in the reality of raising students in Oklahoma.
